Admissions Policy
The Department of Education has established a quota for the number of pupils admitted. The members of the Board of Governors / Principal will oversee that the admissions criteria will be applied in the priority order as listed below:
Y1 Intake
Admission to Y1 children of compulsory school age ie age 4 on
or before 1st July. Priority will be given to:
- * children who have a brother or sister attending the school and who reside not more than 4 miles from the school;
- children who reside not more than four miles from the school;
- * children who have a brother or sister attending the school who reside more than 4 miles from the school;
- children with special circumstances ie social, medical, security - for which supporting evidence has been made available;
- children whose brother, sister, half-brother, half-sister, parent, guardian is a former pupil of the school;
- children who reside more than 4 miles from the school.
* If oversubscribed in Criteria 1 and 3 above, priority will be given to those with two or more children currently attending the school.
Y2 – Y7 Intake
Providing that each class as a whole, is not oversubscribed, priority will be given to:
- children who have a brother or sister attending the school and who reside not more than 4 miles from the school;
- children who reside or come to reside not more than 4 miles from the school;
- children with special circumstances ie social, medical, security - for which supporting evidence has been made available;
- children who reside more than 4 miles from the school.
Note
The qualifying distance from the school is the shortest walking distance by road. In the event of over subscription in any one of the above criteria, children who live closest to the school will be given priority.
